When should I first bring my child to the dentist?
The American Dental Association, as well as our team at Radiant Dental, recommends bringing your child in for their first dental appointment by the time they turn one, or whenever their first tooth erupts. These early visits will consist primarily of oral examinations to make sure their smile is developing properly, as well as a way to help them get comfortable visiting the dental office.
What does it mean if I have a toothache?
Persistent toothaches are typically the result of an infection that has developed within a tooth, compromising the pulp inside of it, which is a collection of nerves and soft tissue. This requires urgent dental attention, so we recommend calling us as soon as possible.
Do you accept dental emergencies?
Yes! We’re happy to see patients who are experiencing dental emergencies and do everything we can to fit you in the same day you call.
Are implant dentures better than regular dentures?
This question is complicated, because it really depends on your individual goals and situation. While implant dentures offer more benefits than traditional dentures, allowing them to boost your long-term dental and physical health, traditional dentures may be the more practical option for other patients. It really depends on your jawbone density, medical history, and other factors that are unique to you. That’s why we recommend coming in for a consultation, so you can learn about all of your options and make the best choice for you.
How often do I need to get dental X-rays?
If you have no existing dental health issues, like gum disease or are very susceptible to decay, we recommend that you have X-rays taken at least once a year to ensure that no oral health issues are lingering beneath the surface of your gums. However, for patients with more long-term dental concerns, we may recommend receiving X-rays more frequently. With our digital X-ray system, you’re able to have diagnostic images taken safely and efficiently.
Is teeth whitening from a dentist better than store-bought teeth whitening strips?
While store-bought teeth whitening products like strips and toothpastes may be less costly as professional cosmetic dentistry treatment, they can pose some risks. Our take-home and in-office treatment utilizes concentrated, clinically proven ingredients that can brighten your teeth by up to eight shades without eroding your enamel or causing heightened dental sensitivity. However, whitening strips won’t be able to offer that. With overuse, they can cause the outermost protective layer of your teeth to deteriorate and leave them more susceptible to decay. They may not brighten your smile as much as you want them to, either!
